Press Release: New Starting 5!

Lake Forest, CA - The etnies GvR of Surf Team Captains pulled out all the stops to get the big guns for their starting five for the finals on October 21, 2007 at the Oceanside Pier. More than just another contest, this is a two-day event that includes a concert by MxPx, a festival village on the beach and more!

The unique format of the etnies GvR of Surfing contest pits two teams, Surfing magazine’s Regular Foot riders (left foot forward) against Transworld Surf’s Goofy Foot riders (right foot forward), with each team appointing a team captain. The starting five pro surfers Evan Slater, captain of the Regular Team and editor of Surfing magazine, picked include:

• Cheyne Magnusson
• Kieren Horn
• Killian Garland
• Ratboy

A highlight of the weekend will be a free show by MxPx, at the bandshell on the beach by the Oceanside Pier after the GvR qualifiers on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Check http://gvr.etniessurf.com for complete details.

While the Regular and Goofy teams battle in the water, there will be plenty of vendors’ booths to check out in the festival village on the beach.
